Drag Reducers minimise turbulence in pipelines, enabling Crude Oil or Refined Fuels to flow more smoothly, lowering pressures, boosting throughput and reducing energy costs, all thanks to a small amount of intelligent chemistry.

Lower Pipeline Pressures:

Reducing the pressure within pipelines is a proven method for improving operational efficiency. By lowering pipeline pressures, operators can significantly decrease the energy required for motor and diesel MOL pumps. This not only results in reduced operational costs at pump stations but also contributes to lower greenhouse gas emissions, supporting more environmentally sustainable pipeline operations. It can also lead to MOL pumps running at lower speeds, resulting in less noise, fewer vibrations, – a better work environment, – and a decrease in MOL pump wear and tear.

Flow Rate Boost:

If the Target is to increase the pipeline capacity. The lowering of pressure caused by the Drag Reducer can be countered by the MOL pumps thus increasing the pipeline flow rate.

Using Drag Reducer in Wellhead flow lines, can lead to single or multiple wells seeing a reduction in back pressure – boosting production levels.

It is not necessary to inject DRA in all flow lines connected to a manifold or trunk line to reduce the system back pressure.

Injection skids can be solar or gas powered air skids at locations where no power is available.

When used like this DRA has been known to reduce slugging in the line and reduce the number of spurious instrumentation alarms in the Process Control Room.

Using Drag Reducer to Optimise Pipelines can reduce the energy costs of MOL Pump Stations and their carbon footprint.

QFLO can advise:

Will Drag Reducer work in your pipeline and can you achieve your target? — % Flow Rate Increase or Pressure Reduction.

What chemical concentration and what type and size of injection skid would be needed to achieve your target?

How can DRA reduce my Pump Station energy use and how much energy reduction are we talking about?

If you are already using Drag Reducer – maybe you have injection problems, — QFLO has been trouble shooting DRA installations for 3 decades we can review your installation and advise any modifications or changes needed.

Are you using more DRA chemical than expected? QFLO can do a performance check on your current DRA Chemical, this can be compared to what was promised by your supplier.
