Drag Reducing Agent Technology
QFloDRA is collaborating on the development of a new generation of Drag Reducer technology.
QFloDRA is collaborating on the development of a shear-resilient Drag Reducer intended to be injected upstream of the first pump station and to pass through subsequent MOL pumps without degradation.
Designed to be shipped dry and mixed on-site with a non-toxic, environmentally friendly carrier.
Designed for injection using simple pumps, without clumping or clogging.
Conventional DRA may be degraded by passage through pump stations, requiring reinjection downstream of each station to maintain drag reduction.

The new formulation is being developed to permit a single injection upstream of Pump Station 1, retaining effectiveness through subsequent pump stations. This could substantially simplify injection infrastructure along the pipeline.

The shear-resilient Drag Reducer described above can also be modified to form a drag-reducing coating that can be applied to the internal walls of pipelines, flowlines, subsea lines and umbilicals.
The concept is to achieve drag reduction through the internal pipeline lining itself, eliminating the need for ongoing DRA injection during operation.
Both the injectable shear-resilient Drag Reducer and the drag-reducing internal liner are currently under development, with ongoing testing to quantify their performance and potential operational benefits.
